Rider Suffers Major Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Van in Cathedral City

 
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (November 10, 2022) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Vista Chino in Cathedral City on Sunday morning, November 6.
 
The crash happened 11:40 a.m. near Landau Boulevard. According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the motorcyclist was heading westbound on Vista Chino from Landau at a high rate of speed.
 
A white box van traveling eastbound on Vista Chino made a left northbound turn into the Stater Bros shopping center into the path of the motorcycle.
 
The motorcyclist was not able to stop and crashed with the rear passenger side of the box van. After the crash, the van continued through the parking lot and escaped the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
 
The van had major damage to the rear of the passenger side. The suspect vehicle was captured on surveillance cameras driving through the Stater Bros parking lot.
 
Officers urged witnesses to contact Officer Alberto Felix at 760-770-0300.
 
Give way to small vehicles like motorcycles to avoid accidents. Increase your following distance behind motorcyclists and maintain a safe speed. Also, do not leave the scene when you get involved in an accident. Pull over and call 911.
