Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Semi Truck on Bear Mountain Boulevard in Lamont

 
LAMONT, CA (December 5, 2022) – A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident at Bear Mountain Boulevard and South Edison Avenue in Lamont on Sunday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 12:15 p.m. on December 4. According to the CHP, 43-year-old Terence Patt was driving a Peterbilt semi truck with box trailer westbound on Bear Mountain Boulevard, also known as Highway 223. He made a left turn onto South Edison Road, just ahead of the motorcyclist traveling in the same direction.
 
For unknown reasons, the motorcyclist began to pass traffic on the left lane, into the direct path of the semi truck and crashed at the intersection.
 
Kern County Fire Department personnel responded and provided medical aid to the motorcyclist, but the rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
Patt did not sustain any injuries.
 
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, which is under investigation. The CHP asked anyone with further information to call them at at 661-396-6600.
