CHICO, CA (April 30, 2021) — A motorcycle rider suffered injuries in an accident on Highway 99 near Durham-Pentz Road in Chico Tuesday morning.
 
Based on reports from the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 11:13 a.m. According to Chico police, a car was also involved.
 
The circumstances leading up to the incident were not immediately clear. However, officials said that the car sideswiped the motorcycle in the southbound lanes of Highway 99.
 
Medical personnel rushed the motorcycle rider to Enloe Medical Center. According to the CHP, the motorcyclist sustained major injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the car did not have any injuries.
 
Traffic on Highway 99 near Durham-Pentz Road remained blocked for the duration of the clearing and emergency response. The area has since reopened.
