57-Year-Old Michael Mackey Dies after Hit by Car on Magnolia Avenue near Elizabeth Street

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (May 12, 2021) – Michael Mackey was hit and killed by a vehicle on a Riverside street Sunday evening, May 9.
 
The fatal incident happened around 9:10 p.m. on Magnolia Avenue, just south of Elizabeth Street. According to the Riverside Police Department, the 57-year-old Riverside man wandered into traffic lanes when a Toyota Yaris struck him.
 
The motorist evidently did not have time to stop before the victim stepped in front of him, police said. He immediately stopped and called 911.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after, but Mackey died at the scene.
 
Drug or alcohol use on the part of Mackey may have been a contributing factor, police said. Further investigation is underway.
