E-Scooter Rider Dies after Struck by Two Vehicles in Koreatown

 
KOREATOWN, CA (March 7, 2022) – Mario Ramos Morales was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Koreatown, early Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on March 5 at Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 22-year-old victim was riding an e-scooter when a blue Dodge Caravan struck him.
 
The impact knocked Morales into the street. While lying on the ground, another car hit Morales and dragged him about 60 feet before he came to rest in front of a bus stop.
 
The driver of the second vehicle did not stop after the crash.
 
First responders pronounced Morales dead a the scene.
 
The 39-year-old Los Angeles man driving the minivan remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Authorities offered a reward of up to $50,000 to people who provide information leading to an offender’s identification, apprehension and conviction or resolution through civil compromise.
 
An investigation is ongoing.
