Rollover Crash During Training near Camp Horno Leaves 1 US Marine Dead and 14 Others Injured

 
CAMP PENDLETON, CA (December 15, 2023) – A U.S. Marine assigned to Camp Pendleton was killed in a rollover accident near Camp Horno Tuesday evening on December 12.
 
The Marine Corps said the accident involved an Amphibious Combat Vehicle as it was making a ground movement during training with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The vehicle overturned down the steep terrain.
 
One Marine died and at least 14 others inside the troop were injured and were taken to nearby hospitals.
 
The name of the deceased was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The names of the injured Marines were also withheld per Department of Defense policy.
 
At this time, the circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
