Maria del Carmen Estrada de Dore Identified as Woman Killed in 8 Freeway Rollover Accident near Alpine
EAST COUNTY, CA (June 7, 2021) – Authorities identified 63-year-old Maria del Carmen Estrada de Dore of San Diego as the woman killed in a double rollover accident on 8 Freeway, Thursday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:00 p.m. A black 2006 GMC Sierra pickup and a black 2000 Toyota Solara collided near Tavern Road.
The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to veer toward the center divider and overturn.
As per reports, the GMC’s rear-seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Then, the pickup landed on the eastbound side and caught fire.
Paramedics later pronounced the ejected victim dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, emergency crews transported the 65-year-old GMC driver and the 18-year-old Solara driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego with major injuries. A 65-year-old woman inside the pickup was also hospitalized with major injuries.
Responders temporarily closed affected lanes to make way for an investigation.
CHP continues to investigate the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
