Speeding Driver Dies after Crashing Head-On with Pickup Truck in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 21, 2023) – Marcus Winkfield was killed in a head-on accident in southeast Sacramento Thursday morning on August 17.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 5:00 a.m. on Twin Cities Road near Clay Station Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Winkfield was driving a 2002 Honda Civic at a high rate of speed when he crossed the double yellow line. He then collided head-on with a 2016 Dodge pickup truck, driven by a 35-year-old man.
 
As a result, Winkfield suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 53-year-old Galt resident, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver of the pickup truck complained of pain but refused medical treatment.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
