68-Year-Old Nipomo Man Dead, Marcos Salazar Involved in Santa Maria Two-Vehicle Accident

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (May 10, 2022) – A 68-year-old Nipomo man died following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 101 on Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on May 9 at about 9:43 a.m. An unsafe lane change reportedly caused a 2007 Nissan 350Z and a 2002 Honda CRV to collide near Main Street.
 
The impact of the collision caused the Honda to overturn multiple times.
 
Emergency crews transported the Honda driver to Marian Regional Medical Center, where he later died. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the Nissan driver, 20-year-old Marcos Salazar, did not sustain injuries in the crash.
 
CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
