Two Pedestrians Die after Struck by Vehicle on South 9th Street in Modesto

 
MODESTO, CA (December 10, 2023) – A man and a woman were killed in a pedestrian accident on South 9th Street in Modesto Friday night on December 8.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 6:15 p.m. when a 2007 Honda Civic struck both pedestrians who were crossing the street outside of a crosswalk. The Honda was traveling behind another vehicle that was able to swerve out of the way of the pedestrians.
 
The Honda was unable to do the same and struck both pedestrians. The impact thrown the man into the second lane, where he was struck again by a 2007 Chevrolet.
 
First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
 
The man was rushed to Doctor’s Medical Center, where he also succumbed to his injuries.
 
Both victims were Modesto residents. Their identities were not immediately available.

Drugs or alcohol were not determined to be a factor and no arrests were made at the scene. Further investigation is underway.
