Motorcycle Rider Suffers Fractures after Crash with Car on Camino Del Rio South in Mission Valley

 
MISSION VALLEY, CA (May 27, 2024) – A 19-year-old man was injured in a motorcycle accident on Camino Del Rio South in Mission Valley Friday morning on May 24.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was riding a 2015 Honda PGM-FI motorcycle in the 1400 block of Camino De Rio South around 8:00 a.m. At the same time, a 46-year-old woman was driving a 2023 Mazda CX-30.
 
The woman attempted to merge onto the roadway from a driveway, pulling in front of the motorcycle rider. The rider had to stop abruptly and was ejected from the motorcycle.
 
As a result of the crash, the rider sustained an open fracture to his right ankle and arm, as well as a fracture to his left lower leg and a significant laceration to the left thigh. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Arriving paramedics took him to a local hospital for treatment.

At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. An investigation is underway.

Be careful when pulling out of a driveway. All drivers must use their mirrors and double-check their blind spots. Motorcycle riders and their passengers should also wear a helmet. Ride carefully and watch for reckless motorists.
