Wrong-Way Driver Dies after Crashing into Parked Car near Santiago Avenue in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (July 30, 2023) – A man died in a wrong-way accident near Santiago Avenue and 6th Street in Long Beach on Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:11 a.m. on July 28, just near Recreation Park. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the 63-year-old man from Long Beach was speeding the wrong way in a 2021 Nissan Rogue when he crashed into a parked car.
 
The impact ejected the driver from his vehicle. The unoccupied Nissan then rolled into the front yard of a neighboring residence.
 
First responders rushed the man to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Detectives believe speed may have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
