Two-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway in Corning Leaves 5 People Dead

 
CORNING, CA (July 30, 2023) – Five people died and another one was seriously injured after a two-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Corning Saturday afternoon on July 29.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:44 p.m. just south of Liberal Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a car was heading northbound on 5 Freeway when it crossed over the center divider for unknown reasons. It then hit a truck pulling a travel trailer.
 
As a result, the driver and all three passengers in the car were thrown from the vehicle. All of them were killed in the crash. They were not yet identified.
 
The driver of the truck also died at the scene.
 
One passenger in the truck suffered major injuries and was hospitalized.
 
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
