Pedestrian Dies in Train Accident on Elk Grove Boulevard

 
ELK GROVE, CA (May 27, 2021) – A man was killed in a train accident on Elk Grove Boulevard Monday morning, May 24.
 
The accident happened around 8:46 a.m. between School Street and Walnut Avenue. According to Elk Grove Police Department, the male pedestrian walked across the railroad tracks while the crossing arms were down and lights were illuminated.
 
The Union Pacific train operator sounded the horn before hitting the victim but was unable to stop the train in time.
 
The man, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
 
Officials closed Elk Grove Boulevard for westbound traffic while documented the accident. Further investigation is underway.
