Driver Dies after Crashing into Big Rig on Highway 99 in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 7, 2022) – A man died in a traffic accident on Highway 99 in Bakersfield on Friday morning, August 5.
Around 5:00 a.m., the man was driving his 2006 Nissan northbound of the highway near Olive Drive at approximately 70 mph. For unknown reasons, he veered to the right and drove through a perimeter fence off the eastern edge of the road. He then crashed into a 2016 Freightliner that was parked on the dirt shoulder on the western side of State Road, adjacent to Highway 99.
As a result, the man suffered significant injuries. Paramedics took him to Kern Medical, where he later died.
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig was not hurt in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved.
