1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in High-Speed Accident on Highway 87 near Curtner Avenue [San Jose, CA]

Speeding Leads to Fatal Crash on Highway 87 in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (August 7, 2022) – One person died and another was seriously injured after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 87 in San Jose on Friday, August 5.
 
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. along the northbound highway, just south of Curtner Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, an Acura was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the guardrail edge and the edge of the sound wall. The impact caused the car to overturn and come back into the northbound lanes of the highway.
 
At least two other vehicles then struck the Acura.
 
As a result, an 18-year-old passenger in the front seat of the Acura died at the scene. A rear-seat passenger was taken to the hospital with major injuries after being ejected from the vehicle.
 
The condition of the Acura driver was not immediately known.
 
At this time, drugs or alcohol are not considered to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
