Passenger Dies after Mercedes Flips Over Cement Barrier on 680 Freeway in Pleasanton

 
PLEASANTON, CA (September 13, 2022) – A man died in a rollover accident on 680 Freeway in Pleasanton on Saturday morning, September 10.
 
The accident happened around 5:48 a.m. just south of the Bernal Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Mercedes-Benz was traveling northbound on the freeway when it veered hard to the right for unknown reasons. It then hit a cement barrier and flipped over several times.
 
The male passenger was ejected from the car and died at the scene. The female driver survived with minor injuries. Neither of them was wearing a seatbelt.
 
CHP officers closed multiple northbound lanes on the 680 Freeway for several hours while they investigated the crash.
 
It is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol was involved.
