Man Killed in Rollover Accident on 15 Freeway near Nipton Road [Barstow, CA]

Rollover Crash on 15 Freeway in Barstow Leaves Driver Dead and Sends Passenger to Hospital

 
BARSTOW, CA (December 19, 2022) – A man was killed in a rollover accident on 15 Freeway in an unincorporated Barstow area Sunday afternoon on December 11.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:10 p.m., just south of Nipton Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound when it veered off the freeway onto the right dirt shoulder where it overturned.
 
Both the driver and his passenger were ejected during the crash.
 
First responders provided aid, but the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was a 56-year-old man from Catonsville, Maryland.
 
The passenger, a 52-year-old woman from Oak Forest, Illinois, was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas in an unknown condition.
 
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors in this crash. The CHP Barstow Area office urged anyone with further information to call them at 760-255-5900.
