Man Dead in Possible DUI Crash on Main Street in Ramona

 
RAMONA, CA (December 12, 2022) — A man died in a possible DUI pedestrian accident on Main Street near 7th Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. For possible DUI-related reasons, a 56-year-old Ramona man tried to run northbound across the eastbound lanes of Main Street, also known as Highway 78. However, he bolted in front of an approaching eastbound 2019 Toyota Camry.
 
As a result, the Toyota struck the man, rendering him unconscious. Soon after, emergency personnel arrived and brought him to Palomar Hospital, where he died.
 
At this time, investigators do not believe the 50-year-old woman driving the Toyota was impaired. However, they do believe the man might have been under the influence.
