Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Whittier Boulevard in Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (April 4, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian hit-and-run on Whittier Boulevard in Boyle Heights late Saturday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. on April 2 at Esperanza Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the male pedestrian was walking northbound in the crosswalk on Esperanza when a westbound Ford Fusion struck him.
 
After the crash, the driver of the Fusion continued without rendering aid.
 
Arriving paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. However, the victim was not yet identified. Authorities only described him as someone in his 40s or 50s.
 
At this time, this fatal is still under investigation. Police urged anyone with information to call the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3746.
