Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Garbage Truck on South Jackson Avenue in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (September 28, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on South Jackson Avenue in East San Jose early Tuesday morning on September 26.
 
Around 3:23 a.m., a 2021 Peterbilt garbage truck was heading out of a rear parking lot when it struck the male pedestrian in the 40 block of South Jackson Avenue Police, about one block south of Alum Rock Avenue.
 
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office witheld his identity pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
 
The driver of the garbage truck remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
The San Jose Police Department is handling the investigation.
