Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Trash Truck on Sixth Avenue in Downtown San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 24, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident at Sixth Avenue and C Street in downtown San Diego Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:15 a.m. on August 22, several yards from the Fifth Avenue trolley station. According to the San Diego Police Department, the male pedestrian crawled from the west sidewalk into the roadway and was hit by a trash truck that was heading south.
 
Responding paramedics attempted saving the man, but he died at the scene.
 
Authorities only described the victim as someone in his 30s or 40s.
 
The truck’s driver was questioned by police.
 
At this time, the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
