Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (March 25, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach early Thursday morning on March 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:30 a.m. just east of Gaviota Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the male pedestrian ran southbound across Pacific Coast Highway, outside of a crosswalk when an eastbound 2007 Toyota Camry struck him.
 
First responders rushed the man to a hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries. His name was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
 
The driver, a 19-year-old Signal Hill resident, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Speed, distracted driving, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. An investigation is underway.
