Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Van on Highway 99 in South Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 27, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in south Sacramento Friday morning on June 23.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 8:00 a.m. just north of the Cosumnes River Boulevard on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a moving van struck the male pedestrian who was running across lanes on the northbound side before jumping the center divider.
 
Officers and paramedics arrived within minutes and found the victim unresponsive.
 
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release his identity once family members are notified.
 
The driver of the van remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
Drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
