47-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck on Highway 70 in Oroville

 
OROVILLE, CA (October 27, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 70 in Oroville Wednesday evening on October 25.
 
The fatal accident happened a little before 10:00 p.m. just north of Georgia Pacific Way. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian wearing dark clothing was crossing the road when a Ford F-150 struck him in the northbound lanes.
 
Officers said the driver of the pickup, Shawn Pelfrey of Plumas Lake, was unable to see the pedestrian in time to avoid the crash.
 
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 47-year-old Oroville resident.
 
Pelfrey stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
