Man Walking from Party Dies after Struck by 3 Vehicles on Highway 180 in Fresno County

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (June 20, 2023) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 180 in Fresno County late Saturday evening on June 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:40 p.m. near Howard Avenue, just east of Kerman. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 30-year-old male pedestrian who was highly intoxicated from a party was standing in the middle of the westbound lane of the highway.
 
Officers added that he walked three miles from a quinceañera in Kerman to Fresno when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west at 55 mph.
 
After the initial crash, two other vehicles also hit the man.
 
First responders rushed the man to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
The man was wearing dark clothing, the CHP said.
 
All drivers involved remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Officers said alcohol is suspected to be a factor on the part of the pedestrian. Further investigation is underway.
