Garbage Truck Involved in Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Highway 120 in Manteca

 
MANTECA, CA (March 12, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 120 in Manteca Wednesday morning, March 3.
 
Around 7:30 a.m., the City of Manteca Solid Waste vehicle was traveling east on the highway. For unknown reasons, it struck the pedestrian going north under the South Main Street overpass, according to the CHP.
 
The pedestrian, a 56-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities withheld his identity pending next of kin notification.
 
The driver of the truck pulled over and cooperated with authorities. Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
 
The California Highway Patrol’s Stockton office is conducting the investigation.
