Vehicle and Pedestrian Involved in Fatal Accident on Almond Avenue in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (January 5, 2022) – Police confirmed that a man died in a pedestrian accident on Almond Avenue on December 27.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Cypress Way at approximately 6:30 AM.
 
Based on a report, the man was walking in the roadway, pushing a shopping cart, at the time of the crash. Due to his dark clothes and poor lighting, a driver approached him and hit him.
 
As a result, the victim died in the incident. Officers identified him as a 41-year-old man from Atwater.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
