Multi-Vehicle Accident on Santa Monica Freeway Leaves 1 Dead

 
SANTA MONICA, CA (August 15, 2021) – A man died in a multi-vehicle accident on Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Santa Monica Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:46 p.m. on August 14, on the eastbound lane of the freeway, just outside the McClure Tunnel at the Lincoln Boulevard overpass. According to the CHP and Santa Monica Fire Department, the crash involved nine vehicles, one of them had overturned.
 
Fire officials said they found four patients and have confirmed one person dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics took two people to a local hospital, one with critical injuries.
 
Meanwhile, a fourth patient sustained minor injuries and treated at the scene.
 
The cause of the crash was being investigated by the CHP.
