Man Dies in Multi-Car Collision on Highway 4 in Stockton

STOCKTON, CA (November 16, 2023) — A man died in a multi-car accident on Highway 4 near Highway 99.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-vehicle collision happened around 5:36 a.m. Wednesday. Under foggy weather conditions, a 35-year-old man heading eastbound entered the westbound lanes to pass slower-moving traffic. Subsequently, an oncoming Volvo big rig came into the man’s view, and he attempted to avoid the rig. However, the two vehicles collided, sending his vehicle spinning into eastbound traffic and hitting a Hyundai and a Toyota vehicle. From there, an oncoming Ford driver, unable to see the man’s vehicle through the fog, struck the passenger side of his car, causing his vehicle to plow into a nearby embankment.

Officials did not say if anyone reported any injuries in the crash.

At this time, CHP officers do not believe impairment contributed to the accident. However, an investigation into the crash should reveal more.

Our heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
