Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Grant Line Road in Elk Grove Severely Injures 11-Year-Old Passenger
ELK GROVE, CA (July 12, 2021) – A man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Grant Line Road in Elk Grove Wednesday evening, July 7.
The accident happened around 8:21 p.m. near Richert Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 68-year-old victim from Elk Grove was riding a motorcycle southbound on Grant Line Road with an 11-year-old passenger. At the same time, a pickup truck was traveling behind the motorcycle.
For unknown reasons, the pickup slammed into the back of the motorcycle. As a result, the rider and his passenger suffered severe injuries.
Paramedics transported both patients to a hospital, where the Elk Grove man died.
Motorcycle helmets were found at the scene, but it is unclear whether the riders were wearing them, CHP said.
The 18-year-old male driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He was unhurt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. CHP has determined that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
