Husband, Wife on Motorcycle Dies in Madera County Crash

 
MADERA COUNTY, CA (July 12, 2021) – Larry Dale Stanford and his wife Penny Louise Stanford died in a motorcycle accident in Madera County on July 7.
 
The accident happened around 11:12 p.m. Wednesday evening on Highway 145 near Island Drive. CHP officials said the couple were riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on the highway approaching Island Drive. At the same time, 60-year-old Mark Cully of Coarsegold was driving a Hyundai eastbound.
 
Cully attempted a left turn in front of the motorcycle and Larry Stanford was unable to avoid a collision. The impact of the crash ejected the couple into the roadway.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, both Larry Stanford and wife Penny died at the hospital.
 
Larry was 67-years-old, while Penny was 63, according to the Madera County Coroner’s Office. Both were Chowchilla residents.
 
Meanwhile, Cully was uninjured.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the factors involved in the crash and liability.
