Man Killed, Monica Acevedo Seriously Injured in Three-Car Accident on Whitmore Avenue [Hughson, CA]

Three-Car Accident in Hughson Kills 21-Year-Old Driver

 
HUGHSON, CA (September 12, 2022) – A man died while Monica Acevedo was seriously injured in a three-car accident in Hughson on Thursday afternoon, September 8.
 
The accident happened around 3:31 p.m. just east of Waring Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 21-year-old victim from Denair was driving a 2014 Nissan east on Whitmore Avenue. However, the car drifted into the westbound lane and into the path of a 2006 Ford, driven by 47-year-old Avelino Araiza of La Grange.
 
The left front of the Nissan struck the left front of the Ford, sending the Nissan spinning into the path of a Toyota behind the Ford, driven by Acevedo, a 47-year-old Hughson resident. The front of the Toyota struck the right side of the Nissan.
 
As a result of the crash, the unidentified man driving the Nissan died at the scene. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
Paramedics took Acevedo to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Araiza was not hurt.
 
Both Acevedo and Araiza were properly restrained.
 
At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Further investigation is underway.
