Three-Car Pileup on Highway 14 in Mojave Kills 1 and Seriously Injures 2

MOJAVE, CA (January 3, 2024) – A man died in a three-car pileup on Highway 14 in Mojave Thursday evening on December 21.

The fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m. near mile marker 47. According to the California Highway Patrol, 52-year-old Eligio Gonzalez of Inyokern was driving a Ford F-250 northbound on Highway 14. He sideswiped a 2016 Kenworth truck-tractor pulling a 2016 enclosed Wabash trailer, driven by 48-year-old Marisol Aguirre of Southgate.

The impact caused Gonzalez to lose control of his car and hit a southbound Mazda CX-50.

Kern County Fire Department crews responded and pronounced the driver of the Mazda dead at the scene. Authorities only identified him as a 29-year-old Long Beach resident.

Gonzalez and the Mazda’s passenger, 30-year-old Joselyn Brown of Tarzana, both suffered major injuries. Paramedics took them to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Aguirre was not injured.

Kern County Animal Services confirmed that a dog found at the scene was returned to its owners.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the cause of the crash, which is still under investigation. Officers asked anyone with further information to call them at 661-823-5500.
