68-Year-Old Man Dies after He Rear-Ends Another Car on Lakewood Boulevard in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (July 9, 2022) – A 68-year-old Los Angeles man died in rear-end accident on Lakewood Boulevard in Long Beach on Saturday morning, July 9.
 
The accident happened around 8:57 a.m. at the 405 Freeway. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the man was driving a 2007 Kia Spectra at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a 2016 Toyota Corolla. He then veered onto a center median and crashed into a support pillar of the freeway.
 
Bystanders tried to help to the driver in the Spectra. Long Beach firefighters took over, extricated him and rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Bellflower man driving the Corolla did not realize he had been in a crash and drove away. He later returned to the scene and cooperated with police.
