BALBOA PARK, CA (February 29, 2024) — A man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 163 near the 5 Freeway.
 
According to reports, the fatal hit-and-run happened around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday. Under unclear circumstances, an unidentified vehicle struck a man on the northbound lanes of Highway 163. Around 11:00 p.m., California Highway Patrol received reports of someone walking near the 5 Freeway. However, officers did not locate his body until 5:00 a.m.
 
Due to the investigation, police closed the southbound highway and diverted traffic to the 5 Freeway.
 
At the time of the report, authorities did not release the victim’s name, only describing him as a man in his 60s.
