Man Dies in Highway 18 Pedestrian Crash in Apple Valley

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (March 16, 2023) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 18 near Symeron Road.
 
According to reports, the fatal pedestrian accident happened Wednesday around 12:23 a.m. For unknown reasons, the 27-year-old man was walking in the No. 2 eastbound lane of the highway. Subsequently, an oncoming 2003 GMC Yukon traveling in the same lane slammed into the victim.
 
Shortly after, deputies from the Apple Valley Station and Apple Valley Fire Department officials arrived at the scene of the crash to investigate the events that unfolded. Paramedics found the seriously injured man but pronounced him dead at the scene soon after. Authorities have yet to release the person’s name.
 
As for the driver, he or she stayed at the scene of the crash and was not believed to be impaired. However, authorities do not know if the pedestrian was under the influence.
