DUI Rollover Crash on Race Track Road in Walnut Grove Kills Driver and Injures Passenger

 
WALNUT GROVE, CA (September 11, 2024) – A man was killed in a rollover accident at Race Track Road and Tyler Island Road in Walnut Grove on Wednesday evening.
 
The accident happened just before 9:00 p.m. on September 4. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2012 BMW north on Race Track Road with a 37-year-old Elk Grove woman as his passenger. He was driving at a high rate of speed as the car approached a curve in the road. He then lost control of the car and veered to the right shoulder.
 
The BMW went into a 15- to 20-foot-deep agricultural drainage ditch, where it overturned and came to a stop in a northerly direction. The ditch had about 2 feet of water.
 
As a result of the crash, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner withheld his identity at this time.
 
Meanwhile, the female passenger only sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
 
CHP investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
