Man Killed in DUI Car Accident on 80 Freeway [Sacramento, CA]

1 Dead, 1 Arrested after Sacramento DUI Car Accident on 80 Freeway near Madison Avenue

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 11, 2023) – A man in his 60s died in a DUI car accident on eastbound 80 Freeway, early Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 10, at about 12:15 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a car crashed into the rear of another vehicle just east of Madison Avenue.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the vehicle that was hit dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Officers arrested the other driver, described as a man in his 20s, on suspicion of driving under the influence. His name was also not released.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
