Man Killed, Child Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Walnut Avenue at Vine Avenue [Winton, CA]

Motorcycle Crash on Walnut Avenue in Winton Kills Man and Sends Child to Hospital

 
WINTON, CA (September 19, 2023) – A man died and a child suffered serious injuries after a motorcycle accident on Walnut Avenue in Winton Saturday night on September 16.
 
The accident happened around 6:50 p.m. at Vine Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Mr. Milward was riding a motorcycle with an 11-year-old passenger westbound on Walnut Avenue, approaching Vine Avenue. Another motorcyclist, a 66-year-old man from Delhi, was riding behind Mr. Milward.
 
Meanwhile, a man driving an SUV eastbound on Walnut Avenue was slowing down to stop at the posted stop sign.
 
The 66-year-old motorcyclist failed to stop and collided with them at a high rate of speed. The impact ejected him from his bike.
 
Mr. Milward and the girl were also ejected and slid on the asphalt toward the stopped SUV. The girl and the motorcycle collided with the front of the SUV.

An air ambulance took the child to Valley Children’s with major injuries.

Mr. Milward sustained moderate injuries.

Sadly, the 66-year-old rider suffered fatal injuries and died at the hospital.

The driver of the SUV was unharmed.

Detectives say all parties were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. They do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the crash.

An investigation is underway.
