Passenger Dies after Car Crashes into Tree on Jefferson Street in Riverside

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (October 9, 2023) – A man was killed in a car accident at Jefferson Street and Dufferin Avenue in Riverside late Friday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:04 p.m. on October 6. According to the Riverside Police Department, a 1998 Mercedes-Benz was traveling at a high rate of speed on Jefferson when it lost control and slammed into a tree.
 
Responding paramedics rushed both the driver and the passenger to Riverside Community Hospital, where the male passenger succumbed to his injuries.
 
The 19-year-old driver from Riverside sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Police said the driver might have been under the influence of alcohol, but an investigation is ongoing.
