Big Rig Involved in Fatal Accident on 5 Freeway in Patterson

 
PATTERSON, CA (June 13, 2021) – Police confirmed that a man died in a big rig accident on 5 Freeway on June 8.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Sperry Avenue shortly after 12:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, a big rig was traveling in the slow lane of the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it veered to the right and crossed over the Sperry on-ramp. Subsequently, it overturned and came to rest east of the freeway. Consequently, the rollover ejected the victim from the big rig.
 
As a result, the man died in the incident. Officials only identified him as a 50-year-old Detroit man. Crews transported a passenger in the vehicle to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
At this point, this fatal big rig accident on 5 Freeway is still under investigation.
