Hit-and-Run Crash on Maple Avenue in Fresno Leaves Man with Broken Leg

FRESNO (January 17, 2024) – A man was injured in a hit-and-run crash at Maple Avenue and Church Avenue in Fresno late Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on January 14. According to the Fresno Police Department, a dark-colored sedan was traveling southbound on Maple Avenue when it rear-ended a pickup truck.

The impact caused the pickup truck to lose control and crash into the side of a liquor store. It then struck the man who was standing next to the nearby bus bench.

The man sustained a broken leg as a result of the crash. Paramedics took him to a local hospital in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan fled the scene. Police later located the suspect in the 1200 block of South Winery Avenue. They arrested them on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

An investigation is underway.
