Man Chased by Two People Suffers Injuries after Hit by Car on Shields Avenue in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (January 21, 2024) – A man was injured after being hit by a car during chase at Shields Avenue and Maple Avenue in east central Fresno late Friday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on January 19. According to the Fresno Police Department, the man in his 40s was being chased by two people when he ran into the roadway. That was when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
 
Paramedics arrived and took the man to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Police said the victim was expected to recover.
 
The involved driver pulled over after the crash and cooperated with officers.
 
At this time, it is unclear what happened leading up to the chase. An investigation is underway.
