Man Hurt in Bakersfield Bicycle Accident on Union Avenue

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 12, 2021) — A man was injured in a bicycle crash on Union Avenue at 19th Street Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident happened around 4:36 p.m. For unknown reasons, a bicyclist began crossing westbound against a red light and rode into the path of a southbound vehicle. In the investigation, officers confirmed that the driver heading southbound had the right-of-way with a green traffic light.
 
As a result of the accident, the man sustained major injuries. Meanwhile, the uninjured female driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators.
