Man Injured in Bicycle Accident on Highway 101 [Arcata, CA]

1 Hurt after Bicycle Accident on Highway 101 near Highway 299 in Arcata

 
ARCATA, CA (August 26, 2022) – A man sustained injuries in a bicycle accident on Highway 101 on Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 23 at about 10:20 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a vehicle and a bicycle collided near the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 299.
 
Emergency crews transported the bicyclist to a hospital for treatment of back injuries. Authorities did not release the name of the victim.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders temporarily closed affected lanes to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
