Fiery Chain-Reaction Crash on 5 Freeway in Logan Heights Involves 3 Cars

 
LOGAN HEIGHTS, CA (July 26, 2023) – A man was hospitalized in a fiery chain-reaction crash on 5 Freeway in Logan Heights Monday on July 24.
 
The crash happened shortly before noon. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male driver of a white van rear-ended a Ford Ranger pickup truck for unknown reasons. The impact sent the truck into the back of another car.
 
The pickup truck then overturned and burst into flames, which spread to the third car.
 
Firefighters arrived to find the occupants had been able to escape the damaged vehicles. Paramedics transported the male driver of the Ranger to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
CHP officials issued a SigAlert in the area, closing three northbound lanes of the freeway.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
