Man Riding Mobility Scooter Dies after Struck by Car on Fruitdale Avenue in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (September 25, 2023) – A man was hit and killed on Fruitdale Avenue in West San Jose Friday morning on September 22.
 
According to the San Jose Police Department, the man was riding a mobility scooter outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 2017 Nissan sedan in the 2000 block of Fruitdale Avenue at Princess Anne Drive around 10:30 a.m.
 
First responders took the man to a local hospital, where he later died. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
The male driver of the sedan stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
