57-Year-Old Lompoc Man Dies after Struck by Sedan on Highway 1 in Orcutt

 
ORCUTT, CA (January 14, 2024) – A man was hit and killed by a car on Highways 1 in Orcutt late Saturday afternoon on January 13.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. just south of Highway 135. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the man was standing in the roadway when he was struck by a sedan.
 
The man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by AMR paramedics. Authorities only identified him as a 57-year-old Lompoc resident. His name was withheld pending family notification.
 
The driver of the sedan, a 19-year-old Lompoc man, stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities. He was unharmed.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.
