Good Samaritan Dies after Struck by Car while Helping Driver of Overturned Truck on 205 Freeway in Tracy

 
TRACY, CA (November 13, 2023) – A man was hit and killed by a car on 205 Freeway in Tracy early Saturday morning on November 11.
 
The crash happened around 3:45 a.m. just west of Grant Line Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota truck was traveling eastbound on the freeway when it rolled over on its side for unknown reasons.
 
A 36-year-old Patterson man driving a big rig saw the truck overturned and stopped to help get the Toyota driver out of the vehicle. He then started to walk back to his big rig, when a woman driving a red Kia sedan at approximately 65-70 mph struck him.
 
The woman was focused on two vehicles pulled over and did not see the overturned truck or the man walking back to his big rig.

The Patterson man died at the scene. His name was not immediately available.

The woman driving the Kia, a 23-year-old Modesto resident, sustained minor injuries.

There was no information available about the condition of the man involved in the rollover crash.

Further investigation is underway.
